It is a red push button. To check if your battery has the proper voltage, model turn 301 by moving the switch to the left and accessory switch to the left and press the battery check button.

The meter indicator must go the power indicating 10. If not, replace the battery with another 9-volt alkaline battery. For best results, always use an alkaline battery. We have found 9-volt alkaline batteries for radio Shack  are a reliable battery. Remember to always bring a spare 9-volt alkaline battery when you are in a survey of treasures so that valuable time is not wasted.

Other features of the electroscope of 301 model are discrimination of 10 positions knob and knob tuning.

Adjustment knobs in different positions to see where you work best. You may wish to have set high knob of discrimination for example, when you are trying to see if you have a big target, but remember when doing so may bypass smaller desirable targets and also change their tune optimal.
